Our Mission
Hūṙosa is a nonprofit cultural and educational foundation based in Andalucía, Spain. Through our retreat center and in-person and online programs, we advance personal well-being, human development, intercultural understanding, sacred sound and music therapy, cultural participation, and care for the natural world.
We offer retreats, trainings, workshops, conferences, festivals, and gatherings for individuals, families, artists, educators, volunteers, community groups, teams, and mission-aligned organizations. Our work brings together contemplative practice, artistic expression, cultural exchange, nature-based learning, and practical life skills.
We support forms of learning that strengthen physical health, emotional maturity, healthy relationships, financial well-being, meaningful work, creativity, service, and responsible participation in shared life. We value a heart-led approach grounded in empathy, ethical responsibility, practical wisdom, compassion, and recognition that individual well-being is inseparable from the well-being of others, the wider human family, and the natural world.
At the center of our approach is the image of the human being as an instrument. Like an instrument, a person needs care, attention, practice, rest, and tuning. The purpose of this tuning is not perfection. It is to illuminate what obscures the Real, so that we may recognize it directly and allow that recognition to shape the way we live and breathe.
Through practice, learning, cultural expansion, nourishment, devotional arts, and nature, we create conditions for people to remember what is essential and return to a more grounded, connected way of being.
Our aim is to support a life of greater freedom, wisdom, vitality, insight, compassion, and purpose – so that the gifts of the human spirit can move more clearly into the world.
To be in tune is to bring the different areas of life into better relationship: body and mind, feeling and action, work and rest, personal well-being and responsibility to others. Our programs offer practical ways to recognize what has fallen out of balance, and inspire habits that support clarity, vitality, compassion, and discernment.
In a time of constant stimulation, abstraction, social-media pressure, and disconnection, we offer a direct experience of re-tuning through practical practices, restorative and well-being therapies, nourishing food, time in nature, music, movement, and teachings drawn from wisdom, artistic, and cultural traditions.
The retreat environment itself is part of the work. Its daily rhythm, natural setting, gardens, temple spaces, areas for meditation and yoga, shared meals, and spaces for quiet reflection create conditions for renewal and practical change. We seek to ground a culture of care, presence, beauty, shared responsibility, and natural living that helps people reconnect with themselves, one another, and the living world.
A central part of our cultural work is the promotion and preservation of sacred, traditional, devotional, and participatory arts. Through music, performance, workshops, and shared practice, we support global artistic and wisdom traditions as living sources of cultural expression, reflection, belonging, and mutual understanding.
We also welcome teams and organizations seeking to strengthen communication, trust, creativity, shared purpose, and healthier ways of working together. By stepping outside ordinary routines, groups can reflect on their working culture and carry greater presence, responsibility, and care back into their professional and community lives.
Our public-benefit purpose is to make meaningful education, cultural exchange, artistic participation, personal development, and environmentally grounded forms of learning available to a broad range of people. Through this work, Hūṙosa seeks to contribute to a healthier, more connected, peaceful, and harmonious society.

Who We Are Calling In
We are gathering people who genuinely align with the vision of this retreat center and feel called to help bring it into form through practical service, shared responsibility, and care for the whole.
We are looking for people interested in self-development, healthy living, conscious relationship, purposeful work, creativity, wisdom traditions, sacred arts, music, and service who understand that these values become real through the way we show up in daily life.
This is a project in an active building and preparation phase. The work is concrete and varied: painting, sanding, gardening, cleaning, cooking, organizing, preparing rooms, supporting maintenance, moving materials, assisting with carpentry or construction, helping with hospitality, and completing the many practical tasks that make a retreat center functional, welcoming, and beautiful.
People arrive with different skills, capacities, and experience, and we value that diversity. We do our best to place people in work that suits their abilities, interests, and physical capacity. At the same time, participation begins with a willingness to help where help is genuinely needed.
A person may bring professional gifts, creative talents, therapeutic experience, or leadership skills, and these may become valuable parts of the project over time. During a volunteer stay, everyone also shares in the ordinary work of care: preparing food, sweeping a floor, tending a garden bed, cleaning a common space, carrying materials, or helping complete the task at hand.
We understand service as an expression of generosity, loving-kindness, and consideration for others. It includes noticing when someone needs support, offering help freely, and taking care with the ordinary tasks that make life easier for the people around us.
We are cultivating a warm, dependable, and respectful working culture among people dedicated to bringing this vision forward. Volunteers, residents, staff, teachers, and guests all shape the quality of the space. We value flexibility, humility, initiative, collaboration, and the ability to contribute without needing every task to match a personal title or preference.
This is a good fit for people who enjoy being useful, respect shared spaces, and find meaning in helping a living vision become real. In return, volunteers become part of a meaningful project, a growing circle of people, and a beautiful part of southern Spain shaped by mountains, gardens, Mediterranean light, and living cultural traditions.
